Rivet fällt wegen einer OP an der linken Schulter für 4-6 Monate aus und verpasst somit das training camp im September sowie den Start in die nächste Saison.

Verletzten Update

Vanek hat heute Mittag mit dem Team wieder trainiert und wird wohl gegen Boston im Kader sein.

Auch Rivet wird wohl wieder gegen Boston mit dabei sein.

Hecht hat heute erneut einen freien Tag bekommen...!

Dafür wird Lalime fraglich sein als backup im Boston Spiel ... ihm scheint wohl das Wetter schaffen zu machen. Ruff plant aber dennoch mit ihm und wird keinen Goalie aus der AHL (JPL oder Fordd, Enroth leidet bekanntlich an einer Knöchelverletzung) hochrufen.

Kaleta returns to the ice! Das ist ne Meldung, die den Abend noch versüßt ! Er hat heute Mittag wieder mit der Mannschaft trainiert.

"He can skate now," Head Coach Lindy Ruff said. "He obviously just can't use his hand to the full extent yet, but we can get him back in skating shape."

Bei Vanek und Connolly sieht das Ganze noch nicht so gut aus!

"Thomas actually went for a little bit of a skate today. Tim is back riding the bike and doing well with that," Ruff said. "I'm optimistic that we'll get them back on the ice maybe later in the week. Whether they'll be able to play or not, I don't know."

Hauptsache, sie sind rechtzeitig für die PO's wieder da !

Auch Rivet ist zumindest für das Rangers Spiel etwas fraglich, ihn hat wohl die Grippe erwischt!

Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today that forward Patrick Kaleta  had surgery on his thumb Monday, and is expected to be out a minimum of two weeks.

Keine gute Nachricht, Kaleta hat sich zu einem echten Eckpfeiler im Team entwickelt, weil er eine echte Kämpfersau ist !

Dafür scheint Torres zurück zu kommen !

"I think I'm ready to go," he said following Tuesday's skate. It's up to the coaching staff now whether they are going to put me in or not. I'm feeling good and it's been a good eight or nine days here skating to get my legs back and get healthy."

Hecht hat am Training heute nicht teilgenommen. Der Grund ist keine Verletzung, er verbrachte den Tag zusammen mit den verletzten Connolly, Kaleta und Vanek und sollte sich wie sie einfach mal etwas ausruhen, da er wohl ziemlich geplättet war.

Nachdem Kaleta und Tallinder angeschlagen aus dem Montreal Game vorzeitig duschen mussten, kommen die Entwarnungen!

Tallinder, meanwhile, felt some dizziness late in the game.

"He feels a lot better," said Head Coach Lindy Ruff regarding his defenseman. "This morning he felt real good so no issues."

Kaleta was forced out after he started experiencing neck soreness following a hit along the boards in the Sabres zone.
"I knew what it was right off the bat," Kaleta said. "They recognized it early and obviously they took a little precautionary action, which probably is the smartest thing to do. I would rather play no matter what, but they want me to be ready for tomorrow and the next game."

"But already after the game he was feeling better," Ruff said. "So I don't think there is going to be an issue with him either. He just had to take a little time off."

Somit sind alle für das sehr schwere Game gegen die Sens am Start. Ganz wichtig ist die Personalie Kaleta, keiner ist in Buffalo so stark wie er, was die Physis, Härte und Checks betrifft !

Kleines Update der Sabres:

- Lindy ist mittlerweile wieder viel zufriedener mit seinem Team, besonders die bessere Härte sind ganz nach seinem Geschmack

- Lindy ist derzeit hochzufrieden mit Tim Kennedy, weshalb dieser im Training zusammen mit Roy und Vanek in der 1. Reihe spielen durfte

- Lindy verzichtet seit dem Tampa Game grundsätzlich auf 3 Minuten Aufwärmzeit ... in dieser Zeit befinden sich die Spieler noch im ''locker room''

"Part of it was I was trying to create a sense of urgency. If you take away warm-up time, a player knows before he goes out that he's got to be ready," Ruff said. "Part of not skating is that you've got the rest of the day to think about, 'well I didn't skate this morning, I've got to be ready to play.'

- Lindy sieht die kommende Spiele, gerade gegen Montreal und Ottawa, als höchst wichtig an! Werden diese Spiele gewonnen, festigt man den Tabellenplatz und sollte aus den PO Rängen nicht mehr zu verdrängen sein - ebenso vom 1. Platz in der Division !

- Neues zur Verletzung von Torres:

"He saw our doctors yesterday, had an MRI done and was evaluated," Ruff said." "Hopefully it's basically just a day-to-day [injury], where we've just got to get him feeling better."

- Butler und Sekera fallen künftig in ein Rotationssystem. Gerade auf Sekera will Ruff in nächster Zeit viel bauen, da er wohl sehr zufrieden mit ihm ist

"I don't know how long that will last, but I just want to keep both guys involved," Ruff said. "They are both good players. Andrej came back from the Olympics, had a real good Olympics, and we've got to keep everybody ready."

- Hecht fühlt sich derzeit richtig super

"My legs are going good, I'm getting around the net to score some goals, so it's a positive," Hecht said. "Consciously there is nothing I changed about my game. I just try to do my job and work hard."

Und auch Ruff honoriert Hecht's Leistungen derzeit!

"I think that right now he's put last year behind him and played maybe as consistent as any one of our players through the year - on the offensive side of it and the defensive side of it," Ruff said.

Hier mal ein kleines Fazit und ein weiteres Ausblick über die Sabres von einer deutschen Sportseite!

3. Buffalo Sabres

Beim Team des deutschen Nationalstürmers Jochen Hecht läuft es in dieser Saison richtig rund. Der Hauptgrund dafür ist hauptsächlich die hervorragende Form seines Keepers Ryan Miller. Der Torwart der amerikanischen Silber-Mannschaft von Vancouver liegt in allen relevanten Torwart-Statistiken der NHL an der Spitze und hat seinem Team bereits einige wichtige Siege gerettet.

Zwar befinden sich die Sabres seit den olympischen Spielen etwas in einer Schwächephase, aber da der direkte Konkurrent um den Sieg in der Northeast Division, die Ottawa Senators, noch mehr schwächelt, scheint es darauf hinauszulaufen, das sich die Sabres den dritten Platz der Eastern Conference sichern können und damit in den Playoffs das Aufeinandertreffen mit den Washington Capitals bis zum Conference Finale vermeiden können.

Eine weitere Bestätigung, dass Buffalo ohne Miller viel weniger als jetzt wäre. Nur mit der Schwächephase stimme ich den Schreibern nicht zu, denn die herrscht seit dem Road Trip gen Westen Ende Dezember.

Zwischen Buffalo und Portland geht es weiter !

Im Training nach dem Caps Spiel gab es wohl deutliche Worte von Ruff !

"Do the Slovaks talk?" Ruff asked Andrej Sekera. "Are you ready?" Ruff barked to another. "I said, are you ready?" He harped on players to get to the front of the net and demanded others talked to their linemates. When they didn't – his response was simple: "Louder!"

"Part of our play in the first 30 games stem from; puck support, knowing where people are at, hearing another guy's voice," Ruff said following the 45-minute workout. "Watching the game again this morning, I would swear half the team had muzzles on.

"It makes it tough. When you're under pressure, the only thing you can trust is somebody else's voice, and the fact that he has to be in a certain place for us. The support has to be there."

Die richtigen Worte finden tut der Lindy ja schon immer, ich hoffe, es bewirkt auch etwas. Einen ähnlichen Dampfablasser gab es ja nach dem Road Trip Mitte Januar, wo man die 2 Punkte eigentlich stets dem Gegner überlassen hat. Danach gewannen die Sabres gleich wieder ein Game - aber die gute Leistung und die Wirkung von Lindys Ansprache verpuffte dann wieder und die Sabres verfielen in den Leistungszustand, den man als Fan derzeit kaum aushält. Ich hoffe, seine neuerlichen deutlichen Worte finden ein bisschen mehr Anklang und durch das Team geht wieder ein Ruck - sie können es doch, sonst wären sie nicht 5. mit 75 Punkten !
