Wow, dass es das auch noch gibt. Ich poste freiwilig bei den Rangern. :  ;D

Die Rangers werden auch in der nächsten Saison auf Forward Jed Ortmeyer zurückgreifen können. Der 27-jährige unterschrieb einen Ein-Jahres-Vertrag, der ihm $ 551,760 einbringen wird.
Ortmeyer hat letzte Saison 78 Spiele bestritten und dabei 5 Tore und 2 Asissts erzielt.
In seinen bisher insgesamt 136 NHL Spielen erzielte er 7 Tore und 6 Assists.
Letzte Saison kam er übrigens auf 38 penalty minutes, in seiner bisherigen Karriere auf 54 penalty minutes.

Das steht allerdings im Gegensatz zu Sathers Aussage, dass man zuversichtlich ist was die Verlängerung von Roszival betrifft. Und dass man Sykora nicht verlängern will stand auch schon länger fest. Zumindest wurde davon immer wieder gesprochen. Klingt also eher nach "Schönreden" seitens Herrn Winter...  :

"We eliminated the Rangers a while back," Winter said. "That scenario wasn't in Petr's best interests to return to the Rangers. So we haven't talked to them." : Winter also represents Michal Rozsival and said he is not convinced the Rangers want to bring back the defenseman who enjoyed a breakout 2005-06 season. Gefällt mir ganz gut was Shanahan so von sich gibt. Die Verpflichtung von 3 Stanley Cup Siegern hilft dem Team, bringt Erfahrung und Leadership. Wenn man mehrere Leute im Team hat die das größte Ziel bereits erreicht haben, kann das den anderen Spielern, vor allem den jungen Spielern, sehr helfen.

Mal was aus den Detroiter Zeitungen zu Shanahans Abschied, erfährt man auch ein wenig tiefgründigeres, als die üblichen Floskeln über neue Herausforderung usw ...

"That's not anyone's fault. As time has rolled on, I just felt that, with some of the departures of some of the players that were there when I started, I felt more and more identified with its past.

"He definitely had mixed emotions about it," Yzerman said. "He spent nine seasons here. He played on some very successful teams, so I don't think he is thrilled to be moving on from that, but I think he's excited about a new opportunity and a little bit of uncertainty.

Die Entscheidung hängt also auch mit der von Yzerman zusammen.

"I think the Rangers made big strides last season," Shanahan said. "I was impressed with their enthusiasm and their desire to improve on the success they had in getting back on track last year."

Nachdem der Abschied für ihn klar war haben ihn die Rangers dann schon sportlich überzeugt. Montreal hat laut Zeitung sogar 5 Mio gebiten ...

Dass Shanahan bei den Rangers Erfolg haben wird, der Meinung sind offenbar mehrere NHL-Fans! Bei einer Umfrage auf NHL.com geht es um die Frage: "Which veteran will enjoy the most success with his new team?" Dort stimmten bis jetzt 25,95% von 61038 abgegebenen Stimmen für Shanahan! Da´mit ist er auf dem zweiten Platz nach Luongo (26,65%) und vor Pronger (22,33%)!

Wenn ich mir so das momentane Spielermaterial ansehe, bin ich eigentlich recht zufrieden und optimistisch. Mit Rucinsky wird man wohl auch noch einig werden. Dann hätte man 2 gute Scoring Lines...

Shanahan made up his mind to sign with the Rangers on Saturday night even though the Red Wings had offered the same amount of money and the Montreal Canadiens had tabled more.

War mir bisher auch noch nicht bekannt, aber offenbar haben die Red Wings auch 4 Mio $ geboten, die Canadians sogar mehr. Trotzdem zog es Shanahan nach NY. Nach eigener Aussage war er sehr angetan

"I like the feeling of having to go out and proving your worth every year," said Shanahan.

Gute Einstellung, gefällt mir!  

Sather is plenty glad to have him, noting that Shanahan is a player the team had at the top of its wish list. The original thought was that Shanahan was likely to remain with the Red Wings, but once it became known that New York was an option, Sather moved quickly to get a deal done.

War Elias also doch nicht das Primärziel?  

"I saw them as a team that made tremendous strides last year," said Shanahan. "I was really impressed with their desire to improve on that."

He decided to join the Rangers after taking a tour this week of the team's practice facility in Westchester County, viewing residential areas, and spending time in Manhattan.

Geld war also nicht der Grund für Shanahan nach NY zu wechseln.

"We were really looking for someone that could share a leadership role on our team," Sather said. "Someone that could play on the power play, someone who was going to be able to move people around in front of the net and someone with a great shot. And Brendan certainly has all of those."  

"He's big and he's strong and he's a great team guy," Sather said. "As we got closer to the end of the season, we found that maybe we needed a little some more size up front, and his experience in the playoffs would be a huge help for us."

Nein soll man nich aber dann etwas zu bagatellisieren und zu sagen "Ach naja eigentlich hatte man ja gar kein richtiges Interesse und kein vernünftiges Angebot" ist der falsche Weg. Man stelle sich nur mal vor was gewesen wäre wenn Elias unterschrieben hätte. Dann wäre man doch hier im Fred im Dreieck gesprungen.

Wer hat denn hier etwas bagatellisiert? Natürlich hatte man großes Interesse an Elias, sonst hätte man ihm nicht 7 Mio $ vgeboten. Ich weiß daher wirklich nicht was du willst. Aber wenn man ihn unbedingt unter allen Umständen hätte haben wollen, dann hätte man das Angebot erhöhen können. Stattdessen hat man sich nach einer Alternative umgesehen und gefunden. Und meiner Meinung nach ist die Alternative besser...

Erst schreibst du, dass man bei Elias ans maximum geht und wenig später das man ihn trotz eines 7 Mio. Angebots nicht intensiv umwirbt. Find ich einfach reichlich amüsant.

Du kannst amüsant finden was du willst, ist ein freies Land. Aber wenn du mal ernsthaft nachdenken würdest wäre dir auch klar, dass das alles nicht amüsant sondern durchaus sinnvoll ist.  ;D Man wollte Elias gerne haben, ja. Und? hat nicht geklappt. Aber statt das Angebot von 7 auf 8 oder 9 Mio zu erhöhen, hat man eben nicht dran festgehalten und sich stattdessen nach einer Alternative umgesehen. Wie ich finde sehr erfolgreich und zudem auch noch billiger.

Um auf einen Teil des Threads zuzrückzukommen, der unerklärlicherweise  verschollen ist -
in NHL 2k6 ist Shanahan mit 6'3" / 190 cm angegeben.

Es hat ja niemand bestritten, dass er 190 cm groß ist. Ich finde nur, dass es völlig unerheblich ist, ob er nun 186 oder 190 cm gro ist. Entscheidend ist, dass er groß, physisch stark und schwer ist. Auf den einen oder anderen Zentimeter scheiß ich ehrlich gesagt. Hauptsache er bringt die notwendige Masse mit und weiß diese auch einzusatzen. Zudem war meine Angabe von 186 cm eine grobe Schätzung. Ich rechne nicht bei jedem Spieler groß von Inches in Zentimeter um, damit ich ja keinen Millimeter vergesse...

Und was sagt uns das jetzt? Dass die Rangers sehr an Elias interessiert waren und ihm ein Angebot machten. Aber Elias hatte keinen Bock umzuziehen und wollte lieber in Jersey bleiben. Mehr sagt uns das nicht!  : Zudem war das eine Vermutung meinerseits, weiter nichts. Wie sehr die Rangers nun tatsächlich an Elias interessiert waren weiß man nicht. Und jetzt fang endlich mal an nachzudenken bevor du weiterplapperst... ;D

Der einzige Spieler dem man ein richtig dickes Angebot machen wird ist Patrik Elias. Bei Elias ist man bereits das Maximum zu zahlen, eben 7 - 8 Mio $. Und die Chancen Elias zu kriegen sind recht gut, da man halt mit Jagr und der Czeck-Connection ein gutes Argument hat.
