ZitatCraig Button on Vasiliev: Shoulder injury killed draft stock; would have gone much higher if he wasn't hurt

Pick 141: Reece Willcox - Merritt Centennials (BCHL)

Hometown: Surrey, B.C.
Birthdate: 1994-03-20

wechselt zur neuen Saison zur Cornell University

ZitatAt the age of 17, it's a rarity for any defenseman to make the jump to NCAA Division 1 hockey, so this is a tremendous honour for Reece, but one that is definitely well deserved. By the end of last season, Reece established himself as one of Cents' top dmen, especially in the playoff series vs Salmon Arm. And this season, outside of helping the Centennials to a 2nd place seeding at Christmas time, he took home a gold medal with Team Canada West as the lone Centennials representative at the World Junior A Challenge.

The Lynah Rink, home of the Cornell Big Red
Outside of his skills on the ice at both ends of the rink, Reece is a very intelligent individual who has been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA (the equivalent of straight A's) while playing hockey, which is extremely difficult with the heavy practice and game schedule that consumes the life of a BCHL player still in high school.

Pick117: Taylor Leier - Portland Winterhawks (WHL)

Hometown: Saskatoon, SK
Birthdate: 1994-02-15
Height 5'11"
Weight 178
Shoots/Catches: Left
Position: Left Wing

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=45615

Zitatone of my favorites is Taylor Leier, an 18-year-old left winger from Saskatoon who significantly increased the value of his draft stock this past weekend when he scored the game winning and empty net insurance goals in a game against the Tri-City Americans, with whom the Winterhawks are in a heated race for first place in the WHL's U.S. Division. When he's not busy improving his draft chances, Taylor is getting ready to play on Canada's U-18 ball hockey team in the World Championships this June. Which is why now would also be a good time to tune into Taylor's frequency; because it's about to get very loud.

Pick 111:   Fredric Larsson - Brynas Jrs. (Sweden)

Hometown: Karlstad, SWE
Birthdate: 1993-07-4
Height 6.3"
Weight 172
Shoots/Catches: Left
Position: Defenseman

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=38937

ZitatLarsson came out of nowhere late in the season and was terrific in Sweden's junior under-20 playoffs for Brynas, and had scouts taking notice with his raw size and skating ability. At 6-3, 172 pounds, he's thin as a rail and lacks strength right now, but his development curve appears to be headed straight upward. He shows good poise and patience handling the puck, always skating with his head up looking to make plays, and usually makes very good decisions in puck movement. He's raw as hell, but has the kind of tools that project well down the road.

Pick 78:  Shayne Gostisbehere - Union College (NCAA)

Hometown: Margate, FL

Weight 160
Shoots/Catches: Left
Position: Defenseman

HF Profile
ZitatShayne Gostisbehere was part of a well-balanced Union College team that made their very first Frozen Four appearance this spring. The Margate, FLA native led the Dutchmen in freshmen scoring with 22 points (five goals, 17 assists) playing in all 41 games and earned a spot on the ECAC All-Rookie team. His plus-18 ranked tied for second on the team. While Gostisbehere was on the scouting radar throughout the season, it was his excellent post-season performance that significantly boosted his draft stock.

Gostisbehere is a smart, puck-moving defenseman who sees the ice remarkably well. But what sets him apart from many collegiate rookie defensemen is his ability to balance great offensive skills with a solid defensive game. Gostisbehere is smart in knowing when to jump into plays and his decision-making is very good. He moves exceedingly well with the puck and his passing skills are excellent. Gostisbehere also possesses a great stick and does a good job of taking away lanes. While Gostisbehere's one-on-one coverage is good, he'll need to continue to improve his gap control. Gostisbehere is a superb skater with good speed and agility. He possesses a very good shot and can get pucks to the net. Gostisbehere's greatest attributes, such as his skating will be further enhanced with continued physical development.

Hometown: Jackson, NJ

Zitat"The kid's huge, the kid's huge," says Al Jensen, NHL Central Scouting's goaltending scout. "And he's got that drive and determination. He's aggressive, great athleticism and quickness. He's got the tools that could someday get him there. He's already got some of that stuff. Maybe four or five or six years down the road, the kid might be something."

Pick 20: Scott Laughton - Oshawa Generals

Hometown: Oakville, ON

Weight 178
Shoots/Catches: Left
Position: Center
comparable style: Mike Richards  :grins:
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=128062

ZitatA hard working, two-way forward. Has a strong stride with good speed and excellent balance as he is very strong on his feet. He is extremely competitive and smart at both ends of the ice, strong down low and along the boards. He's a smart and instinctual player without the puck. His work ethic and compete levels may the best we have seen in the OHL this season, and he continues to show strong leadership abilities. He plays an aggressive, gritty, tough two-way game.
